The nation is reeling with the news of Dr. Laura and her using the "n" word on her talk show. Facts are facts and she did indeed use the "n" word more than once. This has caused a huge backlash of media speculations, buzz and controversy.
I have to add my voice to others that say she did the wrong thing. Should she be quit or be fired over it? To me, it has been blown all out of proportion since she is so much in the public eye (or ear). I have listened to her apology which you can find all over the place (check youtube). If she offended you then you have to decide whether or not to accept her apology for yourself.
I think that the public should look at all the good she has accomplished over the years. She has unflinchingly stood for moral values, protecting the innocent, helping our children, saving marriages and holding people accountable for their own actions. I have used her advice to help solve some marital conflicts in my own marriage. I have also taken her advice to support and build my husband's morale. I have heard and witnessed her care and concern for others, especially the innocent. She pushes people to be strong, and step up and do what is right whether it is hard or not. I have to applaud her "no nonsense" attitude in dealing with self-pity and whining.
She has dedicated her life to helping others the best way she knows how. If you have been a regular listener to her show you would have found out that she has saved many relationships, marriages and helped parents realize how important a job raising their children is. Her books are awesome and life-changing. While I can't pretend to agree with every single thing she says, her advice has proven to be golden for many people and situations.
Sure, Dr. Laura makes mistakes, as she proved recently in her choice of words. She is a human being with failings like all of us. If you are thinking that Dr Laura should quit or be fired, then I would suggest that you check into what she is all about and what she has stood for all these years before judging her too harshly.
